MEDTECH INSTITUTE INVITES COMMUNITY TO GET HANDS-ON IN THE LAB DURING CAMPUS OPEN HOUSE
SILVER SPRING, Md. – (Sept. 23, 2011) – Medtech Institute, a leading post-secondary healthcare education training provider in Silver Spring, Md., is giving the community a unique chance to be a Medtech student for a night with hands-on lab demonstrations of what it’s like to be a medical assistant.
As part of an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 5-8 p.m., Medtech students and staff will demonstrate the phlebotomy procedure ― the process of drawing blood ― using state-of-the-art, realistic training arms complete with fake blood pumping through the “veins.” Attendees will have opportunities to learn how to take blood pressure, use microscopes and other medical instruments and can try their hand at assembling all the major organs in a life-size mannequin.
“At Medtech, we offer each of our students an extraordinary learning experience that will help prepare them for successful careers,” said George Rado, executive director of the Silver Spring campus. “What better way to introduce the community to everything Medtech offers than to provide them with an extraordinary experience of their own. They’ll get a feel for what it’s like in a Medtech classroom and be able to interact with current students and instructors. Maybe we will find some future medical assistants in the room!”
During the open house, guests also will have an opportunity to tour the campus and speak with current students and staff. Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served. For more information and to RSVP for this event, please call (301) 608-2300.
