Medtech Institute's Tucker campus has received approval to operate as a college from the Council on Occupational Education (COE) and will now be known as Medtech College.
The college, along with its sister site in Marietta, now offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Medical Assistant, in addition to diploma programs in Medical Assisting and Medical Billing and Coding Specialist. Both campuses also now offer short-term certificate programs in Electronic Health Records (EHR) Specialist and Phlebotomy.
“We are gratified to have earned standing as Medtech College, the result of exceptional learning experiences that prepare our graduates to excel in their chosen field of study,” said Theo Anderson, Regional Vice President of Operations.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook (2010-2011) says that career opportunities in health care continue to grow at a pace much faster than the average for other professions. Health care careers are poised to expand even more as technological advances, including electronic health records (EHR) and the growth of an aging population lead to an increased need for health care workers, according to an email from Medtech.
